FAQ – Receiving Funds

retriever-frisbeePAWS for Irving Animals, LLC (“PAWS”) is volunteer-run non-profit organization listed under 501c3 Federal ID#45-3345507.  PAWS provides funds for adopters or rescuers of dogs listed as urgent at the City of Irving Animal Shelter.  The amount of funds available depends upon the amount raised for the specific animal in question and the remaining available funds left unspent on other animals.  Dogs RECLAIMED BY OWNER are NOT eligible for funding from PAWS.

Funds can be used for the following expenses:

  1. The $20 pull fee, $25 HW test and $10 rabies vaccine for a rescue organization to take a dog into their rescue program.
  2. Half of the listed adoption fee (typically, the adoption fees are $100 but the shelter does sometimes run special discount adoption rates).
  3. Documented veterinary expenses.  Examples: vaccines not covered by the shelter, heartworm treatment, spay/neuter expenses not covered by the shelter, health certificates required for commercial transport, etc.  It is preferred that PAWS pay the veterinarian directly for these expenses.  Because HW treatments are our most frequent request, we have created a schedule of funds based on the weight of the animal.  These are the funds amounts that will be made available for animals who do NOT have funds raised specifically for them:
    1. Dogs under 25 lbs = up to $50
    2. Dogs 26-49 lbs = up to $75
    3. Dogs 50+ lbs = up to $100
  4. Documented transportation expenses.  Examples: airfare for transports or fees for ground transports.  Whenever possible, PAWS for Irving Animals, LLC pays the transport company directly for these expenses.
  5. Documented boarding expenses.  For animals being transported out of state, an animal may need to stay in a local boarding facility if a foster cannot be found until the next transport run.
